Dorothy M. Guthery, 92, Huntingburg

Dorothy M. Guthery, 92, of Huntingburg, died Thursday, September 29, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. She was born in Mulhall, Oklahoma, August 19, 1930, to  John G. Crow and Alice P. Remick. She married Don R. Guthery January 8, 1953. He died August 28, 1976.

Dorothy was employed by the Jasper Walmart. She worked in the lawn and garden department for more than 21 years. She loved taking care of those who came to her in the store and telling the story of her driving all the riding lawn mowers across the highway when the new location opened. She was a member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed working in her yard, mowing, crocheting, sewing, staying in contact with family in Oklahoma, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Dean Guthery and wife Minda, Washington, and Dennis Guthery, Evansville; two daughters, Donna Guthery and husband Ron, Houston, Texas, and Denise Luegers and husband Greg, Jasper; five grandchildren, Devon Ubelhor and husband Ryan, Zechariah Guthery, Jared and Lauren Luegers, and Rachel Kutzer and husband Remi; three step-children, Richie and Zachery Walters and Beth Frakes; and seven great-grandchildren, Kimber, Wyatt, Brooklyn, Ethan, Ella, Jensen, and Kellin.

In Addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Alta P. Crow, and two brothers, John B. and Harvey L. Crow.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Huntingburg United Methodist Church or the Order of the Eastern Star. Online condolences can  be shared at Funeral services at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rev. David Chinn will officiate. The Birdseye Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 590 will conduct a vigil service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Friendship Cemetery in Grady County, Oklahoma.
