Joan Marie Hoffman, 98, Jasper
Joan Marie Hoffman, 98, of Jasper, died Saturday, August 6. She was born July 12, 1924, to William and Margaret (Grenough) Dudine. She married Bernard “Bernie” Hoffman June 12, 1947. He died December 1979.
Joan spent her formative years in Indianapolis. She attended St. Joan of Arc Elementary and St. Agnes High School before returning to Jasper. She was a 1942 graduate of Jasper High School. Following graduation, she was a legal secretary for her father, Judge William F. Dudine. Joan and her husband owned and operated Hoosier Business Machines and Hoffman Office Supply. She was a volunteer at Precious Blood Catholic Church and school in Jasper in a variety of capacities and was a member of Precious Blood Church. She leaves a legacy of community involvement, devotion to her family, and her faith and love of life.
She is survived by three sons, Don Hoffman and wife Sandy, Arlington Heights, Illinois, Howard Hoffman and wife Mary Anne, Indianapolis, and Mike Hoffman and wife Cheryl, Jasper; one daughter, Jan Hurlbut and husband Roger, Carmel; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Elise Schaaf, Michigan City.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Keene and Marilyn Woodruff, two brothers, William F. Dudine, Jr. and infant brother David Dudine, and one granddaughter, Sally Hurlbut.
