Bonita S. Myers Sitzman, 77, Adyeville

Bonita S. Myers Sitzman, 77, of Adyeville, died Friday, June 17, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. She was born in Cincinnati July 11, 1944, to Herman and Lucille (Dotterweich) Van Winkle. She married Elvin L. Myers February 14, 1983. He died June 16, 2008. She married William “Bill” Sitzman July 1, 2016. He died March 1, 2019.

Bonnie was a 1962 graduate of Bristow High School. She retired from Masterbrand after 33 years of employment and was recognized for 20 years of service as a leader for Perry County 4-H with the Twin Lakes club and served on the 4-H County Council. She was a religion teacher at St. Meinrad parish and volunteered as a lay minister to visit parishioners and give communion. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with family and friends, going to ballgames, baking cookies, and decorating cakes.

She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Dilger and husband Jeff, Mariah Hill, and Debra Dauby and husband Todd, Tell City; one sister, Judy Seifrig, Bristow; two brothers, Gary Van Winkle, Mitchell, and Michael Van Winkle and wife Jane, Ferdinand; sister-in-law Sherry Van Winkle, Ferdinand; son-in-law Steve Rusher, Fordsville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Ross and Claire Dilger, Phillip, Adam, and Elizabeth Dauby, and Tony and Brandt Rusher; and four great-grandchildren, Addison, Savannah, Steven, and Andrew Rusher.

In addition to her parents and two husbands she was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Brenda Rusher, one brother, Robert L. Van Winkle, brother-in-law Ralph Seifrig, and an infant sister, Mary.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at St. Meinrad Catholic Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Perry County 4-H program, St. Isidore Parish Hall, or St. Meinrad Church. Online condolences can be shared at  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in St. Isidore Church Cemetery in Bristow.
