Donald L. Vonderschmidt

Donald L. Vonderschmidt, 91, of Jasper, died Friday, May 13, at Cathedral Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Jasper December 28, 1930, to Louis and Clarissa (Giesler) Vonderschmidt.

Donald was a 1948 graduate of Jasper High School and enrolled in the U.S. Maritime Service in 1949. He retired from the Jasper Veneer Mills, where he worked for most of his life. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, a member of the church choir. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed beekeeping, gardening, feeding birds, and painting. In his later years he took up crocheting.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Rita Wadsworth, Spring Hill, Tennessee; and 16 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Imelda Hadden and Thelma Elliott, one brother, Claude Vonderschmidt, who died in infancy, and one niece and one nephew.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Schools or to Cathedral Health Center.
