Hilary P. Blessinger, 90, Jasper

Hilary P. Blessinger, 90, of Jasper, died Monday, May 9, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Jasper August 18, 1931, to Benno and Laura (Fehribach) Blessinger. He married Margie Cates April 29, 1982. She died April 14, 2014.

Hilary was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was an accountant for 55 years until his retirement at age 86. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW Post 673, and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards, reading, and following the stock market. He contributed to a number of organizations including religious and humanitarian foundations.

He is survived by two daughters, Laura Blessinger and Anita Lemond, both of Jasper; three sons, Frank and Chris Blessinger, both of Jasper, and Mark Blessinger and wife Joyce, Newburgh; one step-daughter, Julie London, Foley, Alabama; two step-sons, John London and wife Karen and Jeff London, all of Owensboro, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Luke Blessinger, Erica Fleck, Tyler Schmitt, and Evan Lemond; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Blessinger.

Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to one of Hilary’s favorite charities. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church followed by burial at a later date. VFW Post 367 will conduct military graveside rites at Kundek Hall.
