Edward J. Wilz, 80, Jasper

Edward J. Wilz, 80, of Jasper, died Thursday, May 5, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Jasper February 5, 1942, to John L. and Helen B. (Giesler) Wilz. He married Linda Hurm February 7, 1975, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Ed served six years in the Army National Guard. He retired in 2002 as a factory worker for Jasper Corporation. He enjoyed gardening and was a fan of the Indiana University Hoosiers, Indianapolis Colts, and St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Wilz; one daughter, Denise Eastridge and husband Bryan Scott, Taswell; two sons, John Wilz and wife Kathryn and Richard Wilz and wife Amber, all of Jasper; eight grandchildren, Madison and Kaitlyn Eastridge, Mason, Ian, and Emmett Wilz, and Bryce, Libby, and Reese Wilz; two sisters, Mary Spellmeyer and husband Jim, and Ann Ward; one brother, Tom Wilz and wife Sharon; and sister-in-law Sue Wilz.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Wilz, and brother-in-law Ernie Ward.

Friends may call from 9-11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity.
