Sylvester R. Hoffman, 55, Jasper

Sylvester R. Hoffman, 55, of Jasper, died Thursday, January 6, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Jasper December 9, 1966, to Jacob and Annette (Fuhs) Hoffman. He married Lisa Beckman February 28, 1987 in Celestine.

Sylvester was a 1986 graduate of Jasper High School. He was employed as a machinist at Jasper Engines and Transmissions. He was a member of Jasper Outdoor Recreation, the Knights of Columbus, and was an officer of the Jasper Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping, making fried chicken, and spending time with his friends at the Jasper Moose.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lisa Hoffman; one son, Jacob Hoffman and wife Cassie, Fort Branch; one daughter, Megan Hoffman, Jasper, one sister, Mary Martin and husband Howard; four brothers, Jim Hoffman and wife Kathy, Fred Hoffman and wife Mary, Charlie Hoffman and wife Jane, and Dennis Hoffman and wife Brenda; sister-in-law Rose Hoffman; one granddaughter on the way; and his dog, Artie.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Hoffman.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Jasper Moose Lodge will conduct a funeral ritual at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church Catholic Church in Jasper or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
