Maxine D. Fleming, 81, Jasper

Maxine D. Fleming, 81, of Jasper, died Thursday, January 6. She was born in Springfield, Kentucky, May 25, 1940, to James and Florene (Cumley) Durr. She married Charles E. Fleming June 26, 1959, at Beechland Baptist Church in Louisville. He died October 3, 2007.

Maxine worked at Vincennes University Jasper Campus and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper before retiring in 2012. She enjoyed activities with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and reading, loved animals, especially her cat, Buddy, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

She is survived by three sons, Chuck Fleming and wife Teri, Jasper, Chris Fleming and wife Sabrina, Plainfield, Illinois, and Pat Fleming and wife Margaret, Huntingburg; seven grandchildren, Ryan FlemingĀ  and wife Jamie, Elizabeth Hornickel and husband Dustin, and Emily, Chloe, Caleb, Catie, and Camille Fleming; five great-grandchildren; and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Durr.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dubois County Humane Society. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
