Cyril O. Egler, 83, Huntingburg

Cyril O. Egler, 83, of Huntingburg, died Thursday, January 6, at his home. He was born in Perry County January 24, 1938, to Hilbert and Verena (Wilmes) Egler. He married Bonnie Lee Bayer January 31, 1992, in Huntingburg.

Cyril was a 1956 graduate of St. Ferdinand High School in Ferdinand and served in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He worked at and retired from O.F.S. in Huntingburg, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, the Huntingburg and Duff conservation clubs, sHolland American Legion Post 343, and Huntingburg VFW Post 2366, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Egler; three sons, Jeff Egler and wife Wanda, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chris Egler (Ashley Schwoeppe), Huntinburg, and Corey Egler and wife Rachel, Arlington; three daughters, June Garrison and Carrie Boerner and husband Eric, all of Huntingburg, and Jane (Darrell Price) Egler, Rockledge, Florida; three brothers, Ambrose Egler, Holland, Michigan, Harold Egler and wife Joyce, Loudon, Tennessee, and Jimm Egler and wife Doris, Jasper; and 12 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sr. Virlee Egler, OSB, and Ermilda Gehlhausen, and one brother, Sylvanus Egler.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The VFW Post 2366 and Holland Legion Post 343 memorial details will conduct military graveside rites. Father Homero Rodriquez will officiate the service.
