Kenneth L. Haas, 81, St. Anthony
Kenneth L. Haas, 81, of St. Anthony, died Friday, November 26, at his home. He was born in St. Anthony January 24, 1940, to Lawrence and Laura (Drach) Haas. He married Alma Jean Kemper May 13, 1961, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand.
Kenneth was a 1958 graduate of Jasper High School. He retired from Hasenour Motor Company in St. Anthony and owned and operated Haas Auto Body Shop. He served on the St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years and was fire chief for eight years. He was instrumental in both the development of the St. Anthony Street Fest Fundraiser and the first Boy Scout troop in St. Anthony. He served as first cub master in St. Anthony and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Jean “Jeanie” Haas; two daughters, Rhonda Van Winkle and husband Gary, Bretzville, and Kelly Wollenmann and husband Jeff, St. Anthony; one son, Neal Haas and wife Sonya, St. Anthony; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Van Winkle and husband Jacob, Reece Van Winkle and wife Brittany, Casey Van Winkle and wife Lacey, Carmen Hoffman and husband Bailey, Alexa Wollenmann and husband Lance, Collin Wollenmann, and Karissa Wollenmann and husband Donnie; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Wilfred Haas.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Church. I.V.F.A. District 18 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Divine Mercy Parish, St. Anthony Fire Department, or to a favorite charity.
