Dorothy Ilene Everman, 97, Dubois
Dorothy Ilene Everman, Dubois, died Thursday, October 7, at Hillside Manor in Washington. She was born in Montgomery March 15, 1924, to Calaway and Laura (Chestnut) Morgan. She married Francis Everman November 17, 1945, in Washington. He died September 17, 2005.
Dorothy was a 1941 graduate of Montgomery High School. She was a homemaker and worked at Reliance Manufacturing making parachutes during World War II. She managed the Daviess County 4-H Fairgrounds for several years and was an active volunteer at the Daviess County Museum and the Martin County Genealogical Society. She loved collecting family history and had thousands of pages of genealogy, not just of her family but of many families in the area. She loved history, and took pride in things she collected and saved over her lifetime that have since been donated to the Martin County Historical Society and the Loogootee Public Library. She enjoyed helping her granddaughter by volunteering at the Martin County Humane Society, she loved animals, was an avid gardener, and loved all flowers.
She is survived by two sons, George Everman and wife Sandra and Richard Everman and wife Jill, all of Dubois; seven grandchildren, Tyra Forest and husband John, Oakland City, Courtney Hughett and husband Josh, Loogootee, Bart Everman, Vermont, Lisa Patrick and husband Jeff, Brown County, Shayna Otto and husband Marc, Terre Haute, Shannelle Kline and husband Matt, Dubois, and Crit Everman and wife Codi, Haysville; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, James, who died at birth, one sister, Irene Summers; half siblings Everett, Joe, Thomas, and Russell Morgan, Lavada and Ruth Perkins, and Harold Chestnut, and step siblings Henry, Robert, Ray, and Jewell Raney and Letha Hughes.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bethany Cemetery c/o Bethany Church, 1139 S. State Road 57, Washington, IN 47501. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A graveside service will be held at noon Monday in Bethany Cemetery in Montgomery.
