Rosalie C. Scherle, 90, Jasper

Rosalie C. Scherle, 90, of Jasper, died Wednesday, July 28, at Brookside Village in Jasper. She was born in Schnellville April 6, 1931, to Leo and Anna (Hauser) Hoffman. She married Bernard J. Scherle April 3, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville.

Rosalie was a 1949 graduate of Birdseye High School. She was a homemaker and cooked for several years at Precious Blood and Fifth Street schools and was an aide at local nursing homes. She loved to quilt and made quilts for her family, friends, and the church picnic. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and word searches and spending time with her family. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, and its Ladies Sodality.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard Scherle; two daughters, Elaine Prechtel, Jasper, and Donna Hart and husband Brett, Cedar City, Utah; four sons, Fred Scherle and wife Sandy, Advance, North Carolina, Bob Scherle, Dubois, Stan Scherle, Jasper, and Jerry Scherle and wife Lisa, Huntingburg; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Sr. Corita Hoffman, OSB, Ferdinand, Betty Schmitt, Ireland, Patty Vincent, Tempe, Arizona, Clara Mae Welp and husband Dr. Ralph Welp, Princeton, and Anna Mae Primus and husband John, Jasper; and one brother, Leroy Hoffman and wife Sharon, Haubstadt.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Donna and Joyce Scherle, two sons-in-law, Mark Prechtel and Ed Kostmo, three sisters, Louise Begle, Mildred Hoffman, and Frances Ruhe, and one brother, Hilbert Hoffman.

Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions can be made to Precious Blood Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
