Mid-States Corridor Update
Southern Indiana (NNDC):
The federally-required Mid-States Corridor study is continuing. The Project Team expects to identify a preferred corridor for the improved highway connection later this year when the Tier 1 Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) is published. The DEIS is expected to be published this fall. It will compare benefits, impacts and costs of detailed alternatives and identify a preferred corridor. Public hearings will be held after the DEIS is published and there will be a formal comment period. The Project Team will consider all comments and further refine the preferred alternative in the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). Final approval of a selected alternative comes from the Federal Highway Administration in a Record of Decision (ROD). The Tier 1 FEIS and ROD are expected in summer 2022.
Feedback is welcome throughout the process. To that end, regular project office hours have resumed. The project office was closed temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic and later was open by appointment only. It’s now open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. It remains open by appointment if the Project Team needs to accommodate a different time for meeting with someone. The project office has moved to a new location on the Vincennes University Jasper Campus due to renovations at the Administration Building. The project office is in the Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing (CTIM), room 202. Maps and project materials are available at the office, and a Project Team member is available to answer questions.
It’s not necessary to go to the project office to share comments or ask questions. Feedback can always be shared through the project website (MidStatesCorridor.com), by email (firstname.lastname@example.org), phone (812-482-3116) and mail. The mailing address is Mid-States Corridor Project Office, Vincennes University Jasper Campus, CTIM Room 202, 850 College Ave., Jasper, IN 47546.
