James L. Toby, 87, Huntingburg
James L. Toby, 87, of Huntingburg, died Sunday, June 13, at The Waters of Huntingburg. He was born in DeRidder, Louisiana, December 29, 1933, to Bernard and Vergie (Houk) Toby. He married Henrietta Lemond October 13, 1973, in Jasper.
James retired from Breidenbaugh’s after 40 years of employment. After his retirement he worked for Mor For Less. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and enjoyed woodworking, crafting, going to craft shows, making toy boxes for his great-grandchildren, and walking his dog Toby.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta “Henny” Toby; one daughter, Michelle Stevens, Dale; one son, Ray Matheis and wife Tammie, Dale; five brothers, Earl Toby and wife Ann, Ohio, Leo Toby and wife Peggy, Orleans, Glenn Toby and wife Roberta, Marengo, Windell Toby asnd wife Brenda, Jasper, and Henry Toby and wife Kathy, Birdseye; five sisters, Viola Shupe and Mae Bennett and husband John, all of Paoli, Rene Dillman and husband Clarence, Alabama, Catherine Thomas and husband Terry, Elizabethtown, and Dorothy Kellems and husband Mike, Birdseye; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in Truelove Cemetery near Loogootee. Father Biju Thomas will officiate at the service.
