Ray A. Persohn, 74, Jasper
Ray A. Persohn, 74, of Jasper, died Wednesday, May 19, at his home. He was born in Jasper May 25, 1946, to Urban and Leona (Kleinhelter) Persohn. He married Rose Ann “Rosie” Verkamp April 18, 1970, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville.
Ray was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and its Men’s Club and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Persohn; one son, Scott Persohn and wife Lana, Fishers; two daughters, Julie Streicher and husband Greg, Indianapolis, and Andrea Fischer and husband Doug, Schnellville; seven grandchildren, Ben, Andrew, and Molly Persohn, Kayla and Ashlyn Streicher, and Alex and Drew Fischer; and two sisters, Diane Schneider and husband Tom and Karen Ficker and husband Paul, all of Jasper.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Kluesner.
Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Precious Blood Church. A rosary will be prayed at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Precious Blood Church, Heart to Heart Hospice, the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund, or to a favorite charity.
