Clarence E. Schroeder, 95, Jasper

Clarence E. Schroeder, 95, of Jasper, died Tuesday, April 27, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana. He was born in Jasper November 24, 1925, to August and Catherine (Streicher) Schroeder. He married Virginia “Jeanie” Bartley October 19, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She died April 26, 2017.

Clarence was a construction engineer for the Engineering Corps in the United States Army, serving during World War II in both the European Theatre and the Pacific. He retired from JOFCO and was a founding and lifetime member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and VFW Post 673. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by three daughters, Karen Weyer and husband Rich, Brenda Scraper and husband Larry and Ann Schneider and husband Bob, all of Jasper; one son, Mark Schroeder and wife Marlene, Jasper; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; and his caregiver, Dorothy Dearing.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Seifert, Dora Dupps, and Leona Thewes, and five brothers, Edwin, Sylvester, Oscar, Orville, and Othmar.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at Precious Blood Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Precious Blood Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.

Masks and social distancing are recommended for the visitation and mass.
