John Lee Gogel, 73, Mariah Hill
John Lee Gogel, 73, of Mariah Hill, died Friday, April 23, at Northwood Good Samaritan in Jasper. He was born in Washington March 24, 1948, to Chester and Marcella (Wilmes) Gogel. He married Lois Ranger April 26, 1975, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale.
John was a sales operations manager for Kimball for 28 years. He was a 1966 graduate of Dale High School and received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Purdue University in 1970. He was a member of Rock Steady Boxing at Tri-County YMCA and loved sports, Purdue athletics, softball, traveling, hunting, fishing, golf, woodworking, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois Gogel; one daughter, Lindsay Edwards and husband Chris, Jasper; one son, Blake Gogel and wife Alicia, Bretzville; five grandchildren, Maddie and Chloe Edwards, and Aubree, Avery, and Addison Gogel; two sisters, Judy Eckerle and husband Kerry and Diane Hoppenjans and husband Alvin, all of Ferdinand; and three brothers, Randy Gogel and wife LaVerne, Mariah Hill, Rick Gogel and wife Devonna, Dale, and Harold Gogel and wife Linda, Santa Claus.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Kemper and Cindy and Mary Gogel, who died in infancy, one brother, Larry Gogel, who died in infancy, two nephews, Todd Werne and Brandon Gogel, and brother-in-law Ralph Hoppenjans.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill. Memorial contributions can be made to The Parkinson’s Disease Association or the Michael J.
