Ardella Lubbehusen, 98, Ferdinand

Ardella M. Lubbehusen, 98, of Ferdinand, died  Tuesday, April 20, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born in Jasper July 1, 1922, to Anton and Theresa (Knust) Bockelman. She married Cletus C. Lubbehusen January 23, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died November 6, 2019.

Ardella was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ the King Parish – St. Ferdinand Church in Ferdinand and its St. Anne’s Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the Huntingburg VFW Auxiliary, the Democrat Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a poll worker for many years and she enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning, cooking, and playing cards.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Hopster, Jasper; five sons, Larry Lubbehusen and wife Penny, Pittsboro, Kenneth Lubbehusen  and wife Doreen, Gosse Creek, South Carolina,  James Lubbehusen, St. Anthony, and  John Lubbehusen  and wife Eileen and Kevin Lubbehusen  wife Sun, all of Ferdinand; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and  brothers in-law Jack Horney, Warsaw, and Jerry Oeding, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by son-in-law John Hopster, five brothers, Sylvester, Claude, Fred, Anton, and Harold Bockelman, two sisters, JoAnn Oeding and Dorothy Horney, and one half-sister, Eleanor Sermersheim.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand Church. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
