Bernard C. Hopf, 86, Jasper

Bernard C. Hopf, 86, of Jasper, died Thursday, February 18, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Jasper April 22, 1934, to Victor and Josephine (Hurst) Hopf. He married Augusta Betz May 3, 1958, at Sacred Heart Campus in Schnellville. She died April 11, 1988.

Bernard was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He worked at Dubois County Block and Brick for 47 years and enjoyed playing cards, adoration at Precious Blood Church, and meeting with friends for breadfast.

He is survived by his companion of 32 years, Lucille Recker, Ferdinand; three daughters, Phyllis Schepers and husband Alan and Bev Bromm, all of Jasper, and Janet Leisman, St. Anthony; four sons; Steve Hopf and wife Brenda, Ferdinand, Jerry Hopf and wife Brenda, Schnellville, and Donnie and Dennis Hopf, both of Jasper; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold Hopf and wife Charon and Jim Hopf and wife Pat, all of Jasper; and the family of Lucille Recker who played a big part in Bernard’s life.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Mae Mehringer, and one brother, Vince Hopf.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity.
