Norma L. Steffen, 87, Jasper
Norma L. Steffen, 87, of Jasper, died Sunday, February 7, at Miller’s Senior Living Center in Indianapolis. She was born in Huntingburg January 21, 1934, to Frank and Rose (Bische) Messmer. She married Lawrence Steffen May 15, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He died November 17, 2005.
Norma and her husband were owners of Steffen’s Floors and Furniture in Jasper for 38 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its St. Anne’s Society. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, and spending time with her dog Lacie, her family, and friends.
She is survived by four daughters, Karen Blesch and husband Scot, Huntingburg, Marcia Schnell and husband Gary and Teri Frieler and husband Jim, all of Jasper, and Denise Fischer, Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Emily and Zach Fischer; two sisters, Sally Oeding and Ann Hoffman, both of Huntingburg; and three brothers, Hubert Messmer, Ferdinand, Bernie Mohler, Crawfordsville, and Donald Messmer, Stendal.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Marvin Wilson, two sisters, Viola Schaefer and infant Leona Messmer, and three brothers, Virgil, Richard, and Orville Messmer.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Masks and social distancing will be required. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity.
