George T. “Bud” Potter, 71, Jasper
George T. “Bud” Potter, 71, of Jasper, died Thursday, January 7, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida February, 2, 1949, to George R. and Mary Ann (Becher) Potter. He married Donna Helming January 22, 1982, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand.
Bud was a construction supervisor for Kimball International and a self-employed construction supervisor. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, the Ferdinand Jaycees, the Ferdinand Community Club, and a charter member of the Ferdinand Optimist Club. He was involved in Boy Scouts, was an Eagle Scout, and received the Ad Altare Dei Award from the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Potter; two daughters, Rachel Potter, Fairbanks, Alaska and Heather Dooley and husband Ryan, Jasper; two grandchildren, Parker and Hudson Dooley; three sisters, Susie Begle and husband Ken and Ginny Begle and husband Lee, all of Ferdinand, and Margie Vaught and husband Marty, Jasper; and three brothers, John Potter, Leopold, Mark Potter and wife Margaret, Ferdinand, and Bill Potter and wife Janice, Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Ann Potter.
