Alberta Carolyn Brown, 93, Huntingburg
Alberta Carolyn Brown, 93, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday, January 6, at The Waters of Huntingburg. She was born in Huntingburg April 27, 1927, to Arthur and Ethel (Ruttkar) Peters. She married Donald E. Brown September 1, 1973, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg. He died January 16, 2001.
Alberta worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Tretter’s and was part-owner of Holland Plumbing and Heating. She was a lifelong member of Salem Church, a member of VFW Post 23666 Auxiliary, and enjoyed volunteering at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing home.
She is survived by two step-daughters, Carol Ruff and husband Gary, Boonville, and Kim Davis and husband Duane, Folsomville; two step-sons, Scott Brown and wife Gina, Holland, and Karen Kolb and husband Charlie, Jasper; 10 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews, Carol Miller and husband Mark and Jerry Peters, Huntingburg, Donna Bische and husband John, Newburgh, Randy Hemmer, Stendal, Sheri Harris and husband Mike, Evansville, and Steve Hemmer and wife Sue, Jasper.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton Henry Peters and Donald Peters, who died in infancy, and one sister, Louella K. Hemmer.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Church. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements.
