Schwinghamer chosen as next mayor in Huntingburg
The town of Huntingburg has a new mayor-elect.
After Thursday’s mayoral caucus, Republican Steve Schwinghamer was chosen to represent Huntingburg.
Neil Elkins was the other candidate for the position.
Schwinghamer, a Huntingburg native, will replace current Mayor Denny Spinner, who will step down next week to accept a position with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
When asked about plans for Huntingburg as the New Mayor Schwinghamer said.
“First of all, we got to continue on with the comprehensive plan – that’s the number one factor,” Schwinghamer said. “We’ve got to work with all the industries, manufacturing, the small shop people around here. We’ve got to bring more opportunities for the downtown area, we want to make it better than it already.
Schwinghamer will be sworn into office at 8 a.m. Wednesday at City Hall.
