Dean R. Patterson, 63, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, died Saturday, November 14. He was born in Jasper June 8, 1957, to Robert and Imogene (Merkley) Patterson.
Dean loved cars, guns, and speed, and was a handyman. He worked as a parts sales manager for military vehicles at the Kaneohe Marine Core base in Hawaii. He spent his free time driving and detailing his cherry red Mustang. He loved being with his closest friends and family and hanging out on the Patterson Farm. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving as a tank commander and training soldiers
He is survived by one son, Roy Resenbeck and wife Junella, Arizona; one daughter, Letitia Cheers and husband Ray, Texas; one son, Eric Patterson, Hawaii; his mother, Imogene “Jean” Patterson, Jasper; two brothers; Darren Patterson and wife Ann, Jasper, and Dane Patterson and wife Amy, Ohio; three sisters; Desiree Patterson Wech, Pennsylvania, and Dawnelle Arvin and Darla Blazey and husband Scott, all of Jasper; eight grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Patterson, one daughter, Whitney Sharon Rose Patterson, and brother-in-law Donald J. Wech.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. American Legion Post 147 will conduct military graveside rites. Masks and social distancing will be required for the visitation and Mass.
