James W. “Speed” Kreilein, 88, Jasper
James W. “Speed” Kreilein, 88, of Jasper, died Tuesday, November 17, at his home. He was born in Jasper October 31, 1932, to Louis and Clara (Scherle) Kreilein. He married Beverly “Betty” Wilder May 3, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Speed was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for Hoffman Brothers as a mechanic and then retired from Indiana Desk. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed fishing and making walking sticks.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Kreilein; one son, Tim Kreilein and wife Sharon, St. Anthony; two grandchildren, Corey Kreilien and wife Jenna and Travis Royer and wife Korin; two great-grandchildren, Blair and Dax Kreilein; and four nieces.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Schwenk.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to Kindred Hospice. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Masks and social distancing will be required. American Legion Post 147 will conduct military graveside rites.
