Jane Anne Rehl, 95

Jane Anne Rehl, 95, formerly of Huntingburg and Evansville, died Tuesday, October 20, at The Lodge Care and Rehab Center in Cincinnati. She was born in Indianapolis January 10, 1925, to Jack A. and Helen (Squires) Haymaker. She married Dr. Robert P. Rehl July 8, 1945, in San Diego. He died July 7, 1995.

Jane attended Butler University in Indianapolis. She was a 50 year member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg and St. John’s East United Church of Christ in Evansville. She was a lifelong volunteer with the Girl Scouts, schools, and churches in Huntingburg and Evansville. She was an active member of the D.A.R., serving as National Historian General in 1995 and on the boards of several D.A.R. supported schools for underserved children. She supported the preservation and restoration of historical buildings and monuments and loved golf, bowling, and gardening.

She is survived by one son, Bob Rehl, Huntingburg; one daughter, Leslie Coles and husband Dan, Cincinnati; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Haymaker, daughter-in-law Kathryn Rehl, and great-grandson, Bobby Simpson.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Madonna of the Trail Endowment. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by internment in Fairmount Cemetery.
