Margie Lee Astrike, 82, Huntingburg

Margie Lee Astrike, 82, of Huntingburg, died Thursday, October 29, at her home. She was born in Holland April 30, 1938, to Raymond and Lydia (Hemmer) Luker. She married Donald Astrike November 28, 1959, at Salem Church of Christ in Huntingburg.

Margie was a 1956 graduate of Huntingburg High School and a 1959 graduate of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville. For more than 50 years she held various nursing positions including working at the Huntingburg Clinic, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Memorial Hospital and served as school nurse for the Southwest Dubois County School Corporation. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Donald Astrike; three daughters, Debbie Astrike, Hermitage, Tennessee, Janet Putney and husband Clai, Columbus, and Cheryl Hinton and husband Mike, Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Logan Putney, a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corp, and Lydia Putney; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Betty Luker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Paul and Ray Luker, one nephew, Scott Luker; and one niece; Jennifer Cosmanoff.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Sunday  and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg  Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s Nursing Honor Guard will conduct a vigil service at 5 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
