Linus J. Kluemper 91, Jasper
Linus J. Kluemper, 91, of Jasper, died Wednesday, October 28, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Jasper May 5, 1929, to Bernard and Elizabeth (Miller) Kluemper. He married Bernice Hasenour September 24, 1966, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. She died January 4, 2009.
Linus was a farmer and retired from the Dubois County Highway Department, where he was a trash truck operator for 15 years. After retirement he mowed grass for Sultan’s Run Golf Course. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Jasper Moose Lodge 1175, the Holy Name Society, Jasper Knights of Columbus, Ireland Sportsman Club, and the Fraternal Order of Police and he enjoyed being outdoors, especially mowing grass.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, a few of which were his caretakers, Donna Mehringer and husband Joe and Emil Rasche; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Rasche and Marie Sander, and two brothers, Tony and Ralph Kluemper.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church. Holy Family Parish will pray a rosary at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Jasper Moose will conduct its ritual at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Masks and social distancing will be required. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Church or to the Dubois County Community Foundation c/o the Linus and Bernice Kluemper Endowment Fund. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.
