Jeffrey L. “Jay” Schnell, 59, Jasper

Jeffrey L. “Jay” Schnell, 59, of Jasper, died Monday, October 26, at his home. He was born in Jasper to Donnie and Irma (Taber) Schnell. He married Jolene Schroering January 14, 1984, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Jay worked for OFS in Huntingburg for over 14 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He enjoyed camping, hunting, shooting matches, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene Schnell; one daughter; Amber Jones and fiancé Adam Hopf, Haysville; one son; Brandon Schnell (Jennifer James), Jasper; three grandchildren, Cheyann Jones and Brayden and Bradley Schnell, and one on the way; one brother, Rick Schnell and wife Denise, St. Anthony, and two sisters; Deb Kluemper, St. Anthony, and Barbara Kane and husbad Michael, Santa Claus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Irma Schnell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church with burial following at a later date in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Schellville.
