Emma Lou Woods, 91, Holland
Emma Lou Woods, 91, of Holland, died Friday, October 16, at the Good Samaritan Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Ozark, Kentucky, October 1, 1929, to Butler and Ethel (Wells) Kelsay. She married Maurice Curtis Woods April 8, 1950, in Louisville. He died April 1, 2010.
Emma founded Woods Printing in 1971 with her husband and together they worked there for many years. She was a member of Augustana United Church of Christ in Holland, Order of the Eastern Star Harmony Chapter 273 in Louisville, and the Daughters of the Nile. She was an avid golfer and bowler; loved to play cards, and work in her yard tending her flowers. She enjoyed traveling and staying in Florida during the winter months.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Springston and husband David, Holland, and Linda Jones and husband Stanley, Rotonda West, Florida; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by seven siblings, Vida Carter, Marcella White, and John, Vernon, James, Paul, and Lerman Kelsay.
Private visitation and funeral services will be held at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Augustana Cemetery in Holland. Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate at the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Maurice C. Woods Memorial Endowment c/o Dubois County Foundation, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
