Ruth Ann Meyer, 60, Boone Township
Ruth Ann Meyer, 60, of Boone Township, died Friday, October 16, of injuries suffered in a traffic accident involving a mower she was operating. She was born in Huntingburg June 11, 1960, to Irwin and Rita (Begle) Hoffman. She married Kent Meyer April 7, 1979, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland. He died June 1, 2017.
Ruth was a 1978 graduate of Jasper High School. She was an administrative assistant for the City of Jasper for over 25 years and a lifetime farmer with her husband Kent. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Ireland and its St. Anne’s Society and a past member of the Jasper German Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, creating pottery, and working outdoors, and she had a love for animals.
She is survived by one son, Bart K. Meyer, Jasper; one daughter, Holly Reckelhoff and husband Scott, Jasper; six grandchildren, four sisters, Karen Hochgesang and husband Tony, Hilton Head, South Carolina, Marcia Lindauer and husband Randy, Jasper, Janet Reed, Lowell, and Donna Dafoe and husband Alan, Bloomington; three brothers, Jim Hoffman and wife Jeanne, Jasper, and John Hoffman and wife Karen and Tom Hoffman and wife Kim, all of Duff.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Janet Hoffman, and one brother-in-law, Jim Reed.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Anne’s Society will pray a rosary at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
