Roger B. Doane, 81, Bloomfield

Roger B. Doane, 81, of Bloomfield, died Monday October 12, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born in Jasper September 28, 1939, to Bert C. and Lillian (Fernbach) Doane.

Roger was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from Crane as a computer specialist. He also worked for IBM and the Bloomfield School System. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Bloomfield, a founding member of the Linton Knights of Columbus, a member of the Bloomfield Jaycees, and the Bloomfield Lions Club. He served on the board of directors at St. Meinrad Archabbey and the board of trustees for the Bloomfield Eastern Greene Public Library. He served as chairman of the Bloomfield Town Council and was a member of the Emergency Planning Committee.

He is survived by two sons, David Doane, Bloomfield, and James Doane and wife Laurie, Mountain Home, Idaho; two grandchildren, Kyle and Maggie Doane; two great-grandchildren, Magnolia and Londyn Doane; two sisters, Mary Joyce Doane, Terre Haute, and Sr. Ruth Ellen Doane, SP, St. Mary of the Woods; and two brothers, Paul Doane and wife Linda, Carmel, and Mark Doane and wife Valerie, Seabrook Island, South Carolina.

In addition to his parents Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Doane, who died May 9, 2018, and one sister, Maty Joyce Adkins.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, at Holy Name Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield. Father Simon Natha will officiate at the service.
