Thelma Louise Copeland, 95, Petersburg
Thelma Louise Copeland, 95, of Petersburg, died Sunday, October 11, at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg. She was born in Evansville August 25, 1925, and raised in Lynnville by her mother, Sarah Scott, and her grandparents, Mae and Wilburn Scott. She married John Copeland September 12, 1945. He died March 5, 2003.
Thelma was a 1943 graduate of Lynnville High School. She worked as secretary for the president of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance in Indianapolis for 27 years until her retirement in 1986.She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Indianapolis for 52 years. After moving back to Evansville she was a member of the Old North United Methodist Church for 10 years. She was known as “Sissy” by her family.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Kelly Mosley and Heather Cronin, both of Indianapolis; two great-granddaughters, Lauren and Sophia Mosley, both of Indianapolis; one sister, Carolyn Weitkamp, Oakland City; two nieces, Michelle McCain and husband Brad, Huntingburg, and Melissa Claridge and husband Cliff, Stendal; one nephew, Robbie Weitkamp, Oakland City; four great-nephews, Tim Rainey and wife Erica and Caleb McCain, all of Huntingburg, Tyler Rainey and wife Breanne, Holland, and Quade Claridge, Stendal; one great-niece, Katelyn McCain, Huntingburg; and five great-great-nieces and nephews, Addysen, Hadley, Remington, Canyon, and Lakelyn Rainey.
In addition to her mother and grandparents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janie Cronin, son-in-law Mike Cronin; brother-in-law Robert Weitkamp, and nephew, Christopher Weitkamp.
Private funeral services will be held at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Lynnville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Lynnville Cemetery c/o Lynnville National Bank. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com.
