Leon J. Lueken, Sr., 81, Huntingburg
Leon J. Lueken, Sr., 81, of Huntingburg, died Monday, October 12, at Ascencion St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Holland May 13, 1939, to Roman and Florence (Schaefer) Lueken. He married Ruth M. Mills May 29, 1965, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. She died February 12, 2018.
Leon was a 1957 graduate of Holland High School. He served in the U.S. Army; was a long time adult leader of Boy Scout Troop 181, and retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions. He was a member of Holland American Legion Post 343, Huntingburg YMI, a past grand knight of St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent DePaul, and the Huntingburg Conservation Club.
He is survived by three sons, Leon J. Lueken, Jr., Midlothian, Texas, Mark A. Lueken, Phoenix, Arizona, and Chad D. Lueken and wife Yvonne, Jasper; one brother, David Lueken, Jasper; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son, Kevin R. Lueken.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary is scheduled at 5 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Church or St. Vincent DePaul.
