Wilma Joan Satterfield, 89, Velpen
Wilma Joan Satterfield, 89, of Velpen, died Friday, October 9, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Pike County October 26, 1930, to Andrew and Edith (Traylor) Brittain. She married Vershel von Satterfield September 10, 1953, in Winslow. He died March 25, 2008.
Wilma was a stay at home wife and mother for many years and worked as a CAN at the Northwood Retirement Community for 25 years. She loved her children and enjoyed bird watching, growing flowers and plants, and attending yard sales with her daughter.
She is survived by two sons, Wendell W. Satterfield and wife Cheryl, Ireland, and John Scott Satterfield and wife Tona, Velpen; one daughter, Inez K. Faith, Winslow; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Terry Satterfield three sisters, Imogene Capehart, Joyce Satterfield, and Virginia Rose Brittain, who died in infancy.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to a favorite charity. John Manges will officiate.
