Cornelius J. “Neil” Seng, 98, Dubois

Cornelius J. “Neil” Seng, 98, of Dubois, died Saturday, October 3, at the Timbers of Jasper. He was born in Dubois December 7, 1921, to John and Anna (Fromme) Seng.

Neil was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, and was a recipient of the National Defense Ribbon. He was a timber cutter and retired from Jasper Corporation, where he worked as a night watchman. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois and VFW Post 673. He enjoyed playing cards, especially, cinch and gin rummy, hunting turtles, fishing, squirrel hunting, and gardening.

He is survived by 29 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Merkel, Mary Margaret Linne, and Sr. Cuthbert, OSB, four brothers, Sylvester “Colie”, Matthew, Urban, and Linus Seng, two nieces, Jacqueline Seng and Mary Beth Fawks, and one nephew, Walter “Wally” Linne.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael’s Church. Masks and social distancing will be required. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Isidore Parish or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
