Huntingburg man suffers fatal injuries after 4 wheeler collides with a vehicle near State Road 64 and Cr. 750



 The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of State Road 64 and Cr. 750 west in reference to an accident involving a 4 wheeler. On arrival deputies found that the subject operating a 2007 Yamaha 4 wheeler had succumbed to his injuries. The male driver was identified as 88 year old Frederick E. Hanebutt of 7886 West Sr. 64 Huntingburg, IN. The second vehicle was a 2017 Toyota Corolla driven by  57 year old Joseph Burger of 2223 Marie Ct. Huntingburg, IN.
It appeared that Hanebutt’s 4 wheeler was crossing the highway by traveling southbound and into Burger’s eastbound Lane. Burger was unable to stop and collided with Hanebutt’s 4 wheeler. Hanebutt was ejected from his 4 wheeler and sustained life ending injuries. All of Burger’s airbags deployed as a result of the accident and the vehicle is suspected to be a total loss.  Burger did not sustain any injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be involved. The incident is currently under investigation.
 The Indiana State Police Reconstruction Unit is assisting the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office in reconstructing the scene .
The Indiana Conservation Office is also investigating the crash due to an ATV being involved.
