Edward J. “Ed” Mundy, 77, Jasper

Edward J. “Ed” Mundy, 77, of Jasper, died Monday at his home. He was born in Huntingburg November 27, 1942, to Joseph J. and Anna (Merter) Mundy. He married Mary Lou Mendel July 21, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Ed, a longtime resident of Celestine, was a professional carpenter, woodworker, cabinet-maker, and craftsman. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine. He and his wife loved camping, hiking, state parks, and the great outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou Mundy; one son, Steven Mundy and wife Connie, Jasper; one sister, Mary Mundy, a Sister of Providence, Evansville; one brother, Linus Mundy and wife Michaelene, Jasper; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Denu.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Celestine Church. Masks and social distancing will be required. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Isidore Parish, Parkinson’s Foundation, the Sisters of Providence, or to St. Mary of the Woods. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
