Clarence J. Mullis, 85, Ferdinand

Clarence J. Mullis, 85, of Ferdinand, died Monday, September 21, at The Timbers of Jasper. He was born in Akron, Ohio, November 4, 1934, to William J. and Emma (Weyer) Mullis.

Clarence was a lifelong member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964 at Fort Sam Houston in Texas and was a member of Ferdinand Legion Post 124.He retired from D.M.I. Furniture after many years of employment and after retirement worked as a gatehouse attendant at Ferdinand State Forest. He loved leading Ferdinand Boy Scouts Troop 186 as scoutmaster for many years. He was an avid reader and computer enthusiast and enjoyed crafts, Boy Scout projects, trips to Philmont Scout Ranch, and sitting outside watching the seasons go by and watching wildlife.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Ralph Mullis, and one niece, Jennifer Mullis.

Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ferdinand Church. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by Ferdinand Legion Post 124.
