Judith K. “Jude” Atwood, 58, Jasper
Judith K. “Jude” Atwood, 58, of Jasper, died Sunday, September 20, at her home. She was born in Jasper September 22, 1961, to Maurice and Lorraine (Striegel) Buechlein. She married Robert Atwood September 29, 1984, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.
Jude was a 1979 graduate of Jasper High School and a member of Precious Blood Church. She loved children and working with them, especially special needs children. She was a para-educator for the Olathe, Kansas, school system, a Girl Scout leader, and a religious education leader in Olathe, Kansas and Jasper. She enjoyed gardening, camping, all holidays, wintertime, Christmas, and making sentimental personalized Christmas ornaments and she loved steamed Maryland Blue crabs.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Atwood; one son, Brian Atwood, Quincy, Illinois; two daughters, Carolyn Willis and husband Matthew, Winslow, and Rachel Atwood, Jasper; five grandchildren, Skylar Atwood and Brittney, Danielle, Richard, and Jami Willis; her mother, Lorraine Buechlein, Jasper; three sisters, Deb Fischer and husband Phil, Huntingburg, Mary “Sue” Gogel and husband Mike, Dale, and Diane Brescher and husband Mark, Ireland, and two brothers, Joe Buechlein and Daniel Buechlein and wife Dana, all of Jasper.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Buechlein.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, October 1, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Masks and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Cancer Treatment Centers of America c/o Assistance in Health Care, 2520 Elisha Ave., Zion, IL, 60099, or to Precious Blood Church.
