Marietta Johnson, 90, Jasper

Marietta Johnson, 90, of Jasper, died Friday, September 11, at the St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Ohio June 16, 1930, and was raised in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. She married Richard H. Johnson February 14, 1953. He died June 6, 1997.

Marietta attended Mary Washington College in Virginia and New Kensington Commercial School in Pennsylvania. She worked as a receptionist at WBOW Radio and The Crossroads of America Council of the Boy Scouts in Terre Haute. She was an avid bridge player and her hobbies included counted cross-stitch and using a computer.

he is survived by two daughters, Linda Sherfick and husband Larry, Shoals, and Mary Johnson, Norfolk, Virginia;  two grandchildren; Elise Hasenstab, Norfolk, Virginia, and Augustus Sherfick, Austin, Texas; one niece; Janet Caryll and husband Sam, Glenshaw, Pennsylvania; and one nephew, Bob Johnson and wife Lisa, Racine, Wisconsin.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Blanche McKnight.

A private graveside service will be held at the Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper is in charge of arrangements.
