Elizabeth L. “Betty” Wollenmann, 87, Ferdinand

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Wollenmann, 87, of Ferdinand, died Saturday, August 29, at her home. She was born in St. Meinrad December 1, 1932, to Alois and Anna V. (Fischer) Borho. She married Leander C. Wollenmann April 8, 1953, at St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. He died May 29, 2006.

Betty enjoyed going to mass and attending pilgrimages to the Monte Casino Shrine. She liked playing cards, especially Euchre. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Huntingburg, the St. Ferdinand St. Anne’s Sodality, was an Oblate of St. Meinrad Archabbey for 70 years, and a member of the Ferdinand Daughters of Isabella.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Sue Kern and husband Tim and Cindy Carter and husband Joe, all of Huntingburg, and Michelle Blaylock and husband Jeff, Ferdinand; five sons, Michael Wollenmann and wife Cheryl, Bristow, and Steve Wollenmann , Mark Wollenmann and wife Angie, Tim Wollenmann and wife Stephanie, and Jeff Wollenmann and wife Kelly, all of Ferdinand; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Norman Borho and wife Sandy, Tell City;

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Maurice Borho, and three sisters, Dorothy Arvin, Margaret Mathies, and Mary Ann Wollenmann.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at St. Ferdinand Church. Covid 19 guidelines and protocol for gatherings will be followed. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Thursday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
