Elizabeth I. Simmers, 79, Jasper

Elizabeth I. Simmers, 79, of Jasper, died Thursday, August 27, at her home. She was born in Huntingburg February 11, 1941, to Alvin and Leola (Malone) Krieg. She married Robert L. Simmers September 13, 1969. He died March 22, 2006.

Elizabeth retired as a patient records administrator for Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper after many years of service. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper and participated in its Joy Club and was also a member of the Dubois County Purdue Club.  She enjoyed reading, puzzles, Purdue University sports, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by one son, Alex Simmers and wife April, Jasper; one daughter, Amanda Nelson and husband Andrew, Fishers; two step-daughters; Kimberly Layne and husband Jeff, Terre Haute, and Paula Followell and husband Doug, Sullivan; one step-son, Kevin Simmers and wife Heather, Michigan; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; a number of step-great grandchildren; three sisters; Patricia Graman, Evansville, Priscilla “Susie” Powell and husband Jerry, French Lick, and Donna Temple and husband Duane, Jasper; three brothers; Norman Krieg and wife Mary Kaye, Jasper, David Krieg and wife Maggie, Huntingburg, and Mike Krieg and wife Polly, Velpen; and sisters-in-law Verna Krieg, Jasper, and Judy Krieg, Ferdinand.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Gary Krieg.
