Janice “Elaine” Werne, 67, Dale

Janice “Elaine” Werne, 67, of Dale, died Tuesday, August 25, at her home. She was born in Dubois County  August 25, 1953, to William “Harold” and Jerri “Marta” (Crews) Simpson. She married Donald Werne September 4, 1971, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church.

Elaine was a graduate of Dale High School and a member of Gentryville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and following her grandchildren to all of their extra-curricular activities.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Werne; three daughters, Tracy Pund, Tell City, Jodi Hufnagel and husband Josh, Dale, and Jamie Gasser and husband Ryan, Huntingburg; three sisters, Faye Mauzey and husband Jim, Cathy Seifert, and Bev Beasley and husband Ken, all of Dale; one brother, Phil Simpson and wife Rene; seven grandchildren, Kayla Oxford and husband Shane, St. Meinrad, Aubrey Lynam and husband Sam, Grandview, Payton Arnold (Cody), Santa Claus, Grant Pund, St. Anthony, Colton and Camden Gasser, both of Huntingburg, and Eli Hufnagel, Dale; and four great-grandchildren, River, Willow, Oakley, and Ty and one on the way.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Simpson.

Funeral services will be held at the Gentryville United Methodist Church for the family and extended family. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements.
