Lucille A. Rudolph, 101, Boone Township
Lucille A. Rudolph, 101, of Boone Township, died Monday, August 24, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Daviess County August 22, 1919, to Thomas and Effie (Frank) Baker. She married Gwen P. Rudolph September 16, 1937. He died March 19, 2013 after 75 years of marriage.
Lucille was a homemaker and lifelong farmer. She and her husband farmed in Dubois and Daviess counties. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township and the Singing Seniors. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing cards and games, and spending time with family. She also loved to travel and spent over 35 years square dancing with her husband.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Held, Lafayette; two sons, James Rudolph and wife Helen, Jasper, and Edward Rudolph and wife Sheila, Wilmington, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Jon Held, Gretchen Johnson, Ginger Hedinger, Sara Patterson, and Adam Rudolph; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, John Rudolph, son-in-law David Held, two granddaughters, Kathryn Held and Marcia Rudolph, four sisters, Aneda Hoffman, Lavella Baker, Eldena Petry, and Mable Egg, and two brothers, Milfred and Lowell Baker.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. John’s Cemetery Fund. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home followed by burial in St. John’s Cemetery. Pastor Gerald Frye will officiate.
