High School Football Kick off went well for area teams
Fans garnered their mask and families stayed in groups to follow the guidelines set by the school corporations in cooperation with the Dubois county Health Department. The football season kicked off with some great games and local victories. #1 ranked and last year’s 4a state champion Evansville Memorial came to town to face the Wildcats and the cats where ready holding Memorial to just one field goal. The biggest play of the game came when Ashton Schuetter had a long fumble recovery for a TD as Jasper upset 4a #1 and defending state champions Evansville Memorial 14-3. This week the Wildcats will face Evansville Harrison at Home.
Linton-Stockton came in town to face the Southridge Raiders and offense made all the difference as the Raiders put up 293 offensive yards compared to 63 for Linton. The Raiders didn’t get on the scoreboard until the 3rd quarter when #22 Matt Springer runs in for 4 yards and the touchdown point after kick by Jaylon Leon was good. Chase Taylor with 5 minutes left in the quarter runs in for 4 yards and a touchdown. Chase Taylor comes back in the 4th quarter and runs in for a 9 yard touchdown. Late in the 4th quarter a Trey Goodman pass intended for Gabe Eslinger is intercepted by Raider Reid Schreoder for a touchdown and the point after pretty much sealed the deal as the Raiders win 28 -0. Raiders will travel to Boonville to face the Pioneers this week.
The Forest Park Rangers faced Princeton Tigers at Princeton both teams had a number of turnovers but it was the rushing that made the difference as the Rangers went on to win 20 to 7 over the Tigers. #45 Jake Begle runs for 1 yard. Touchdown! Point after kick by #39 Spenser Wolf is good. In the end of 1st quarter #44 Ben Heidenreich runs to the Tigers 13 Fumble! recovered by #63 Caleb Moya. The only Princeton score came on a 1 yard run. In the 4th quarter Forest Park scored one more time when #40 Trey Toby runs in for 17 yards and the point after is good to end the game 20 -7. Next game for Forest Park is Perry Central on the road.
