Charles James Staats, Jr., 68, Petersburg and Huntingburg
Charles James Staats, Jr., 68, of Petersburg and Huntingburg, died Friday, August 21, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg July 13, 1952, to Charles James Staats, Sr., and Irene (Ermert) Staats.
Charles was a truck driver, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 2939 Winchell-Vogel Post in Tell City.
He is survived by two daughters, Ellen Corn and husband Matthew, Petersburg, and Theodore Guerin Queen “Amy” Brooks, Jasper; one son, James Edward Staats, Evansville; four sisters, Doris Brown and husband Charlie, Dale, and Edna Hubert and husband Charlie, Sharon Staats, and Brenda Meserve, all of Tell City; sister-in-law Geraldine Staats, Jasper; his step-mother, Clara Staats, Tell City; and 11 grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Covid-19 safety protocols will be mandatory for all family and friends in attendance including the mandatory use of face masks, observation of social distancing, and use of hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the facilities.
