Clarence Othmar Hurst, 86, Huntingburg
Clarence Othmar Hurst, 86, of Huntingburg, died Thursday, August 20, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Ireland February 15, 1934, to Benedict and Frances (Sander) Hurst. He married Mildred Bleemel August 29, 1959, in Jasper. She died April 9, 2006.
Clarence served in the U.S. Army and worked for 48 years as a truck driver for J. Winkler and Sons. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, enjoyed volunteering at church, spending time outdoors, gardening, and working on his lawn.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Marshall and husband Richard, Bloomington, and Debra Voegerl and husband Todd, Jasper; one son, Michael Hurst, Muncie; three sisters, Betty Berth, Catherine Buechlein and husband Dennis, and Dorothy Mehringer and husband Vernon, all of Jasper; one brother, August Hurst and wife Gail, Jasper; and six grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah, Hannah and Jacob Marshall and Autumn and Jordan Voegerl.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son, Paul Hurst, one brother, Edward Hurst, two sisters, Helen Jacob and Marilyn Hile; and two infant siblings.
Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A rosary prayer vigil will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. The VFW Post 2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
