James Watson, 84, Jasper

James Watson, 84, of Jasper, died Wednesday, August 19, at the Good Samaritan Society-Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Manhattan, New York, January 19, 1936, to James and Margaret (Lawton) Watson. He married Helen G. Frederick May 6, 1961, in New York. She died in 2012.

James worked as a system analyst at Grumman Corporation in Long Island. He retired in Milledgeville, Georgia, before moving to Jasper in 2011. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and watching John Wayne western movies. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants football team and the New York Rangers hockey team.

He is survived by one son, Tom Watson and wife LaDonna, Jasper; one daughter, Heather McGrael and husband Gerald, Destin, Florida; and four grandchildren, Emma and Zach Watson and Gunther and Kaylee McGrael.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, George Watson, and two sisters, Geraldine Twomey and Peggy Woods.

Private funeral services will be held at Becher Kluesner Funeral Home In Jasper with burial following at a later date in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
