Robert F. “Bob” Bleemel, 78, Hillham

Robert F. “Bob” Bleemel, 78, of Hillham, died Thursday, August 13, at the home of a daughter. He was born in Celestine July 11, 1942, to August and Rosa (Merter) Bleemel. He married Sandra Padgett May 1, 1965, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois. She died February 2, 2014.

Bob was a 1960 graduate of Dubois High School. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard, retiring after 21½ years of service. He retired from Huntingburg Machine Works, where he worked as a licensed plumber for many years. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois and American Legion Post 147, where he served as a post commander. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed doing puzzles, watching Westerns, reading, and spending time with his dog Abby, especially taking her for rides on his four-wheeler. He volunteered driving veterans to their appointments.

He is survived by one son, Harold Bleemel and wife Sarah, French Lick; three daughters, Cathy Siddons and husband Glen, St. Anthony, Susan Fullerton and husband Troy, Jasper, and Staci Rhoderick and companion Barry Wright, Huntingburg; seven grandchildren, Jenna and Zach Bleemel, Megan Jackson, Logan and Dylan Mundy, Josh Fullerton, and Jaci Rhoderick; six great-grandchildren, Levi and Paisley Leonard, Kynlee, Mason and Liam Jackson, and Sebastian Cornwell; one sister, Janet Epple and husband Earl, Jasper; and one brother, Leroy Bleemel and wife Donna, Jasper.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Bleemel.

Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael’s Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the wishes of the family. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with burial following at a later date in the church cemetery.
